Constipation home remedy


Constipation can make you feel bloated and uncomfortable. Incomplete bowel evacuation and infrequent  bowel movements can be frustrating.

However, when you are constipated, if your first instinct is to reach for the laxatives, chances are you do not need one. Home remedies can be effective for constipation relief, plus add needed nutrients.

Plus, they usually don’t have the side effects of most laxatives. The following home remedies may help to relieve constipation symptoms.

Juices

The power of constipation home remedy:

Cabbage juice, water melon juice, raw tomato, amla juice and Aloe Vera juice have a laxative effect and help in relieving the symptoms of constipation.

  • Cabbage contains important minerals like chlorine and sulfur that help to cleanse the digestive tract. 

  • Water melon juice cleanses the body, plus has a soothing, cooling effect. It is a refreshing drink on hot summer days. 

  • Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry, contains ingredients that promote peristaltic activity. Drink a glass of amla juice in the morning and get ready for constipation relief.

  • Mix equal quantities of carrot juice and spinach juice in a glass and drink before going to bed.

Flax seeds

These are another good source of fiber. Here are three options for taking them.

  • Use a coffee grinder to turn 1 to 2 tablespoons into powder, then sprinkle on food or mix with water for reliable constipation relief.

  • Sprinkle whole flax seeds onto oatmeal or other food, and enjoy.

  • Put flax seeds into 4 ounces of water and let soak for 45 seconds, then drink. Sitting in water will cause them to swell and become slimy, which provide an interesting sensation on the back of the throat while swallowing.

Fennel seeds

Fennel seeds are helpful for digestive problems. Mix one teaspoon of fennel seeds in a glass of lukewarm water.

Drink this mixture every night before going to bed. This home remedy works wonders for chronic constipation home remedy.

Hot water, lime juice and salt

Take a glass of hot water and add sour lime juice and stir in half a teaspoon of salt.

Drink this water each morning for powerful constipation relief.

Baking Soda

Add one tablespoon of baking soda to a glass of water and stir for quick constipation relief.

Buttermilk

Buttermilk is a great source of healthy bacteria that helps to bolster gut flora, needed for good digestion.

For added flavor, add in powdered fennel seeds and rock salt. Buttermilk may help with digestive problems as well.

Castor oil

Another tried and true home remedy is castor oil. Castor oil stimulates contractions of both small and large intestines to promote peristalsis.

Swallow one or two teaspoons of castor oil on an empty stomach and let the remedy work its magic.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, avoid taking this remedy without consulting your physician. Not for regular use.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg is another possible solution for constipation. Use a grating tool to grate up a bit, then mix in a few drops of lemon juice.

Take one teaspoon of this mixture to constipation relief.

Warm milk with honey or ripe banana

One of the oldest traditional remedies used to treat constipation is warm milk. 

  • Bedtime: take one glass of warm, almost hot milk and stir in one tablespoon of honey then drink before going to bed. Good for constipation, and also a good night’s sleep.

  • Breakfast: Start with a glass of warm milk and blend in some mushed up banana, then drink. Ripe banana has a good amount of fiber to aid the milk in its work.

A magnesium supplement

Here is a remedy that works for almost everyone.

  • Magnesium also helps to counter the muscle tightening effect of calcium, to help restore the colon’s ability to contract and relax, contract and relax.

For most people, a magnesium supplement is recommended for daily use, whereas most laxatives should only be used for a short time. That is why it is such a good answer for chronic constipation.

Magnesium is also a needed nutrient. That is why taking a daily magnesium supplement may result in numerous health benefits

Supplemental magnesium may interfere with certain prescription medications. Those with kidney disease should not take a magnesium supplement unless instructed to do so by their doctor.
