Meet
Dr. Vik

By Dr. Vik, MBBS, MRCP(GB), PhD,   (View my articles)
Karnataka, India

My name is Dr Vik. I currently reside in India, working as a medical doctor in the Southern state of Karnataka.

As a boy growing up in India, I have always had a desire to help people. This is what drew me into medicine.

Along the way, I have met many individuals with hearts of gold. Helping such people has brought me great joy, and continually motivates me to press on in my work of helping others.

Once out of high school, I pursued medicine with a passion, following the example of my uncle, who is also a doctor.

My courses of study

  • I completed my pre-med training in India in 1999, gaining my MBBS.

  • In 2001 at the age of 23, I moved to the UK, where I completed my post graduate training, securing a Membership with the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2005.

  • As I worked in internal medicine, I went to school part-time and completed my PhD. I have always had an interest in clinical research, and while in Great Britain was fortunate to be a part of an excellent research team assessing certain human cells and their effect on the thickening of blood vessels. This is what led me to complete a doctorate in this area.

  • I am currently doing extension studies to earn my MBA. I have always been interested in the ‘business’ of medicine. My desire is to provide more affordable healthcare to the masses in India. An MBA will help me in to accomplish this.

Dr. Vik's work as a doctor in India

After finishing my doctorate, I moved back to India to work in the area of internal medicine. My work involves caring for patients with a variety of medical conditions, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Infections
  • Heart disease
  • Strokes
  • Lung disease

The work is demanding, but rewarding

I work in a hospital, serving on the medical wards and in the intensive care unit. I work hard, long hours, which isn't easy. Most days I start at 6 am and finish for the day at 7 pm. However, I find this work to be very rewarding, and therefore don’t mind the long hours.

Why I write medical articles

I have authored over 1500 medical articles as a ghost writer, covering various topics and aspects of health and medicine. I love writing these articles. It gives me an opportunity to expand my knowledge of medicine and health, which better equips me to treat my patients.

I hope that the articles I have written for this constipation website will give you the information you are looking for.
